Two quotes out of Auburn’s camp from head coach Alex Golesh on the run game:
Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor on WR Anthony Evans:
“The type of guy Ant is with the ball in his hands, he’s able to do it all himself,” Taylor said. “You can throw Ant a bubble screen and Ant is able to make five guys miss. That’s not something you see in a regular wide receiver. He’s definitely able to do that.”
SMU RB Kendrick Raphael was a standout performer for SMU on the first day of camp Friday, according to Dean Ralsky of On3.com.
Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key on QB Alberto Mendoza’s development this offseason:
Yeah, I mean (Mendoza) is developing every day,” said Key. “I talked to him for a long time today and yesterday, and honestly, I thought it felt for the first time it was it was Georgia Tech’s Alberta Mendoza. We talked about it. Shoot, anytime you come from somewhere else, I mean, what are you always doing? You’re always thinking about what happened this time last year. So there’s always a natural comparison to whatever you did the year previous.
Brent Key on the potential Georgia Tech RB rotation this fall:
“One time in my career I’ve had a running back take every carry in the season, that was ’07. That was Kevin Smith (at UCF). I mean 450 something carries he had in season and that’s unheard of now. That would never happen,” added Key.
“You’ve got to think now, running backs, it’s a position to get banged up, right? So you don’t want to put all the stress on them in practice, so then it becomes a big bang, per se. But you also want the best ones playing their best in the fourth quarter at the end of the year, right? One guy twists an ankle, one helmet comes off, and now you’re down on your third, fourth guys in valuable time in the game, valuable roles. So those guys all create competition in the room, all pushing each other.”
Colorado OC Brennen Marion on the offensive line:
Miami RB Jordan Lyle is positioned to be a high-impact player during 2026, Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports reports.
TCU QB Jaden Craig was the starting quarterback in the Horned Frogs’ scrimmage Saturday, Jeremy Clark of 247Sports.com reports.

A note out of FSU’s camp on potential RB rotation this fall:
Alabama OC Ryan Grubb on freshman RB Ezavier Crowell:
He’s a great kid, he wants to do it, he loves being here, he’s an Alabama guy...He’s physical, he’s tough, he’s got great hands, the sky’s the limit for him. But he’s got to learn the game, he’s got to know how to practice and he’s got a good shot.”-
Alabama OC Ryan Grubb on the QB battle:
"I'd say Keelon [Russell] did a better job taking care of the ball in the summer than he did in spring," Grubb said. "And then with Austin [Mack], I thought he was better on the run out of pocket. I thought he really grew with that."
Auburn WRs coach Kodi Burns on Keshaun Singleton:
“Keshaun is an incredible player, continuing to grow every single day,” said wide receivers coach Kodi Burns. “Just from a skillset, it’s really hard to find 6-3, 217-pound guys that can run and catch the ball like he does.
“He’s loose. He’s athletic. He knows the system. And really for a quarterback, it’s always a failsafe that, man, when he’s covered, he’s still open. You give that guy a chance, and I think you saw that last year. The plan is for that not to stop this year.”
From notes of a UW practice on Aug. 9, Rashid Williams, Dezmen Roebuck, and Christian Moss were the starters at WR. Quaid Carr started at RB. On chemistry between Demond Williams and Rashid Williams:
Demond and Rashid are definitely on the same page
Auburn head coach Alex Golesh on transfer RB Bryson Washington:
“We’ve been hard on him and the demand in this offense is hard,” Golesh said of Washington in Tampa. “Like, there’s not a whole lot of time in between plays to catch your breath and figure out what’s going on. You’ve got to be in elite shape.”
Post spring notes out of Fresno State on the QB competition:
Khristian Martin was the first quarterback out in the spring preview, followed by Jayden Mandal. With no starter named after spring, the two are in a 1a and 1b position heading into fall camp. Both have shown flashes and upside.
EMU RB Amoreon Blue is listed as a co-starter with Joey Mattord on the Eagles’ pre-camp depth chart.
Navy HC Brian Newberry on Braxton Woodson:
Well, I thought Braxton was outstanding a year ago, and you guys got to see glimpses of who he is and who he can be. And so to have a quarterback back that’s played meaningful snaps for us in meaningful moments is huge.
It’s Braxton’s 3rd year in the system ... Couldn’t be more excited about Braxton and the potential that’s there for this season. But he’s been phenomenal. His leadership is something that I’ve been really, really impressed with.
Mississippi State RB Fluff Bothwell is expected to be the “bellcow” this year under Jeff Lebby
OSU RB Isaiah West has been running with the 1s in fall camp.
“Ryan Day was highly impressed with Isaiah West’s offseason and the way he recovered from his shoulder injury. He praised the sophomore running back’s physicality and consistency and said he expects West to take on a bigger role this season.”
